Update #7 - It's home time!

Hi there!
I've spent most of the last few weeks with my head buried in design documents - plotting the wreck unlock order, upgrades, story beats, etc. All necessary stuff, but very unexciting to show in screenshots! Thankfully, the full shape of the game is starting to come together.

As a breather for myself, I nip back into the editor now and again and do some work on the home base. This is the basic Synty massive transport:

This is the model base for the player's home. I'm going to transform this into the "hotel ship" that was retrieved from the anomaly zone for the survivors to live in.

I started blocking out the internal spaces - the accomodation floors, engine room, cockpit, hangar bays, storage etc. just to give me an idea of the size of space I'm working with. It's pretty massive, and I know some areas I definitely do want, and some of them I'm not sure how I'll use yet, if at all, so they might end up being damaged beyond repair and non-enterable. Anyways, this is the size of the space at the moment:

I started first by fitting the hangar bays in. There are two on each side, although only the two on the far side are actually used for docking. The two facing us in the shot above are used to hold all the batteries hooked up to crazily attached solar panel arrays that I'm going to fix to the outside of this side of the ship.

This side faces the solar system's sun, and the survivors use scavenged solar panels and batteries to try and keep the ship going long after the main power source has expired.

So at the moment I'm just reworking part of the lower outside section to fit the hangar bay doors in nicely, before I make a start on the 'roof garden' where the hotel billionaires had a lovely view of the trillionaires fighting each other. Before they were all vaporised, of course. Should have gotten that travel insurance, I guess.

Anyway, this one will take a lot of work over the coming months as the player is going to be wandering around in side this ship almost as much as their little delivery vessel, and it has many areas related to important NPCs and key parts of the story.

Bye for now!

Tony.
