Update #2 - Ongoing prototype work

Hello there!

Just a quick update to give you a flavour of the current work on the Time Scavengers prototype.

For a start, here's some work I've just finished:

  • Set up the Game Kit Controller (GKC) Laser Shooter to have infinite ammo so it can be used as a temporary cutting tool
  • Created a grabbable solar panel that can be, well, grabbed and moved around :)
  • Set up a destroyable support and made the logic to separate the attached solar panel and allow it to be grabbable in zero-g
  • Finished setup of the airlock system in terms of triggers and that

Here's a bit of the latest work:

Aside from that there is the ongoing modelling of the inside of the player's ship, which I'm slowly picking away at by blocking out the sleeping area underneath the cockpit (ignore the wonky UVs for now):

So, what's the next batch of work going to be? I'm glad you asked :)

  • Do some placeholder proper UI for the dialogue and portrait panels while I begin setting up some test conversations - I want to have something animated and cool
  • Start modelling and setting up the player's helmet from first-person along with a helmet UI <- this is going to be more work than it sounds
  • Begin the design for Home, the ship where the rest of the people in this region of space live, which includes a simple docking bay the player ship can enter
  • Investigate grid-based inventories for the player's cargo hold
  • Carry on with the ship blockout

To be honest, that lot will likely take more than one week, but some of it is investigating assets and processes and scribbling on paper, so I can do some of it outside my allotted working spare time.

Anyhow, that's it for now, and keep watching my youtube channel for new updates there.

Tony
