Update #4 - Scenes & Ladders

Hello!

Just thought I'd post a quick update as to my progress, as I've actually done a fair bit :)

  • Paper design for the layout of the entire game - this is in terms of the zones, the wrecks and the general distance between them
  • Paper design for the home base layout and what's needed for it <- probably the next big level design task, other than a test wreck
  • Investigated an inventory asset for a while - not sure it's what I'll use, but need to delve into it more
  • Tried out the Flat Kit toon shader asset - just to get an idea of the styles available and I think I'll stick with the shaders and lighting I already have. Nothing against toon shading, it just doesn't fit with the look I want
  • Set up several test scenes to load based on which wreck the player chooses to fly to from their home base
  • Which involved setting up a pause after loading a scene during which I do a super-quick version of the "sit down in chair" logic sequence before fading in, so that the player is already in the seat when they begin the new scene
  • And involved setting up a basic hangar with the ship inside for their home base, and a quick animation so it can fly out into space and hit the scene loading trigger
  • And finally, started setting up a ladder to access the cargo hold of your ship (which is being problematic, so we'll see how that goes...)

As always, keep an eye on my socials for updates, and see you soon :)

Tony.
