Hot innit?

Hello my sweaty readers! Hope you've managed to keep cool during this heatwave. We're due some thuderstorms over the next few days, so that's going to be exciting.

As for PENITENCE, I've been on-and-off busy on it the last couple of weeks.

  • Set up the note tablets in the prayer chamber and added their text
  • Created some global player stop and start events to make it easier to manage when the player does/doesn't have control
  • Sorted some fading walls in the first area (side-on walls no longer fade, it just looked odd)
  • Made 'interaction' icons always face the camera
  • Progress on prayer chamber cutscene - swapping player in from AI version, getting them to kneel, sorting dialogue so that all four characters in the scene correctly speak their lines (was harder than you might think)
  • A few other minor bits and bobs

Generally, the focus now has switched to the second scene set in the prayer chamber, where you begin your initiation ritual:

So this involves a couple of 'cutscenes' (where the player loses control, except for moving through a conversation, and some animations happen) and where they can freely read the tablets on the altars before moving on. I also, as you can see from the above screenshot, need to properly art up the area - it's still blockout at the moment.

Besides this, I spent time at the weekend going through all the assets I own - not just the Unity ones, but all the stuff I've collected from various Humble Bundle and Itch bundles over the years - and good grief, there's enough there to make twenty games! Some of these I will definitely use for PENITENCE, especially music and GUI stuff for the tablets and computers.

Anyhow, that's all for now!

Tony.
