Two steps forward, one step back

Hey there!

Been a busy week at real work, so dev time has been limited. However I have done a major behind-the-scenes update to make life easier for myself and give me greater control over how I set up interactive situations.

Of course, it means having to redo some work I had already finished (hence the title of this update) but it will be worth it in the long term.

So, here's the bullet points:

  • Refactored how I do four main things - start/stop player control, show/hide the tablet notes UI panel, trigger the camera shift to the side and back when using a panel, when and how I start dialogue
  • Set up the notes in the second level again to work with the new setup
  • Trying to get two conversations happening at the same time and not cross-interacting with each other (and failing so far)
  • Set up the notes in the first level again to work with the new setup

And here we are with two different conversations active at the same time. Exciting, no? Yeah. No.

But it means I can now have the player talking about information they have found while still having the information on screen. Need to push the camera sideways a little bit more to avoid the overlap, but functionally it's almost there.

Bye for now! Tony.
